WOMBAROO FOAL MILK 20KG BAG

Wombaroo Horse Milk Replacer is a highly digestible, easily prepared milk substitute formulated to closely resemble the nutrient composition of mare's milk. Wombaroo contains acceptable levels of lineolenic acid, an essential fatty acid present in relatively high concentration in mare's milk. Use Wombaroo for hand-rearing orphaned foals or supplementing a foal until a foster mare is found.

Ingredients:

Whole milk solids, whey protein isolates, casein, lactose, vegetable oils, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids, vitamins and minerals.

HAND-REARING: Success in hand-rearing foals greatly improves if they receive colostrum at birth. Use Impact Colostrum Replacer  for foals that did not get colostrum from the mare. The foal should be housed in a clean, draught-free environment and have access to a grazing paddock and fresh drinking water. Warm Wombaroo to about 30° C. and feed every 2 hours for the first week, reducing this to every 4 hours by the end of the second week.  After one month reduce feeding frequency to every 6 hours.  Foals may be initially fed from a bottle and teat, however they quickly learn to drink from a bucket.

GROWTH: During the hand-rearing period body weight should increase by about 1.5 Kg per day, however it will be difficult for most carers to monitor body weight so determine milk feed volume by age. Proper nutrition is essential during this time as increases in height are normally faster than increases in body weight and skeletal deformities can occur if bone elongation is interfered with by excessive weight gains. Overfeeding can cause diarrhoea, so large deviations from the suggested feed volumes are not advised.

WEANING: When the foal is about two months old it should begin to show interest in solid food. Introduce a commercial starter feed into the diet and slowly reduce the volume of Wombaroo fed. At this time the foal should be exercised in a paddock and have access to both hay and pasture. Carers tend to wean foals quickly, but ideally they should not be weaned before six months.

Consult your veterinarian for more advice.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Wombaroo Horse Milk Replacer is a powder available in an 11.5kg pack size to make 100 litres. If unopened the powder remained stable for up to 18 months if stored below 30° C. and protected from moisture.

To make 10 litres of milk add 1.15kg of powder to 5 litres of warm pre-boiled water and mix until dispersed. Then make up to ten litres with warm pre-boiled water and mix thoroughly. Milk can be mixed using an electric whisk. Prepared milk can be stored for 24 hours if refrigerated, or up to two weeks if frozen. Milk that has been thawed should be well mixed before use and not refrozen.
