Don't let iron deficiency restrict performance. Racing, endurance and polo are a few high performance activities where the stress of heavy training and competition causes rapid breakdown of red blood cells. In severe cases, iron deficiency anaemia can result. Tell-tale signs of impending trouble include listlessness, a picky appetite and the loss of a horse's "will to win".
Blood cells play a critical role in transporting oxygen to hard working muscles, so to maintain performance it's important to maintain blood cell 'health'.
As well as performance horses, Ironvita Blood & Oxygen™ should be given to young growing horses to support the daily production of new blood cells and following injuries involving blood loss. Ironvita Blood & Oxygen for broodmares, towards the end of pregnancy, helps build the blood of strong healthy foals.
An iron supplement, plus ... Ironvita Blood & Oxygen™ includes additional ingredients selected to enhance the benefits of iron. Copper helps horses mobilise iron from storage areas around the body while cobalt helps synthesise vitamin B12 which horses require to recover from anaemia. It also contains folic acid which has been shown to increase haemoglobin concentrations, often deficient when green pick is limited.
Presentation: A concentrated, brown palatable liquid for addition to the feed.
Active Constituents: Each 30 ml dose contains:
IRON 300 mg
COPPER 30 mg
COBALT 1.1 mg
FOLIC ACID 9 mg
Properties:
Stabled horses and those in full work such as racehorses, polo and endurance horses require considerably greater amounts of certain trace elements than are normally available in feed.
This is due in part to blood cell recycling, which is greatly accelerated in athletic working animals. Horses confined to the stable are denied access to large quantities of green feed, the primary source of the vitamin folate, or folic acid. Deficiency of dietary sources of folate, iron, copper or cobalt, combined with a demanding work programme can lead to the deficiency anaemia complex.
Ironvita Blood & Oxygen™ supplies ample amounts of these nutrients in an attractive highly palatable syrup for addition to feed.
Dosage & Administration:
30 ml to 45 ml per day in wet or dry feed or as directed by a Veterinary Surgeon.
